Hi,

webdevelopers attention; validate your tableless websites;

There's a new site called w3tableless.com which is a validator that checks whether a website was marked up following w3c recommendations on the item of tableless design.

W3C currently recommends using “div” tags in stead of “table” tags for layout and positioning purposes. This doesn’t mean that “table” tags are not allowed. They are still used for displaying datagrids.

The validator recognizes this and separates sites that are either “not tableless”, “tableless according to the w3c recommendations” or sites that are (in addition to being w3c compliant tableless) “also a 100% tableless”.

On validating ajaxtalk.com; this was the outcome:

The results show that this site is “not tableless”.

Webmasters are encouraged to play around with this.

Ciao Smile

What's wrong with using a table as the primary layout (especially with colspan and rowspan available)?

EDIT: I found it: http://www.washington.edu/accessit/articles?263

Doesn't the Wall of Shame at the bottom of the homepage (and the bigger one at the top of http://w3tableless.com/i/show) make validation kinda risky?
